                                 Things to Remember

1.Right clicking on the setup screen in the garage is a helpful tool.

2.You can't run enough testing laps but you can "over test."

3.Get the car to "settle in" the turn before you worry about what it does as you exit.

4.Some changes you make might have the opposite effect on the opposite end of the chassis.

5.You might have to adjust your line and your style a bit to get the best effect as you adjust the car.

6.Think twice before you give up track position with a few laps on your tires.
7.Try to get your tires to wear fairly well at all tracks and that will help keep your lap times  consistent.

8.Don't be afraid to tweak and try different things. Just save it and try something else.

9.Sometimes one change at a time takes too long and you can always delete the setups you don't want.
10.Pay attention to each section of the track to see how the car responds to your adjustments.

11.If you’re loose in, when you tighten the car it can affect your line as you exit and if you’re tight in loosening the car could affect your exit for a few laps.

12.If your loose off, the track usually tightens a bit but if your loose in your exit line will change and could make it "push loose" if your in the groove and hit the wall if your not.

                                                   Time to test
13.Run some laps ,(15 to 20) and use the shocks for "driving style" adjustments.
14.If you’re just a little loose or a little tight try adjusting the shocks.
15.Spring adjustments will change the car in the middle of the turn.
16.Minor changes to sway bars or left side tire pressure will tighten the car for a sprint race or a few to go.
17.If the car is way loose lower the track bar or add some weight to the front.
18.If the car is way tight raise the track bar or add some weight to the rear and go from there.
19.Once you get the car reacting to your changes make 30 lap or more practice runs to get a feel on how the car changes as the pressure builds and the tires starts to wear. That will help you in a race and also give you ideas on how to make it better.

                                  Review and re-tweak
20.Tire temperatures is your tell all. Try to get the left side up and keep the right side down.

21.The more consistent setup will be the one with the left side tire temperatures around 160 to 180 and the right side around 215 to 235.

22.Don't make the mistake of heating  cold tires to fast. Let them cool as soon as you notice they are overheating by  slowing into the turn sooner than necessary.
23.Easy in and easy off until you get a feel for the track conditions and "tire flex."
24.One pound of tire pressure is equal to fifty pounds off spring tension.
25.Lowering tire pressure will affect the car thru the turns but also slow you a bit down the straits.
26 A well balanced car will wear the right front in proportion with fuel loss.

                             Online racing and testing
27.Don't race the car behind you,  let him go until it's time.
28.Race the track not the car in front.
29.Be patient when you catch the car in front of you. Let his mirror and your engine noise rattle his thoughts.
30.Ease off the throttle a little earlier in a race than you do in practice so you don't have to "over brake" as not to slam the car in front of you. You might be rewarded with faster laps.
31.Overbraking will keep you from concentrating on what is at hand.
32.Smooth and consistent throttling and braking will produce more  fast laps as opposed to jamming the pedals down as soon as you can.
33.Using the throttle and brake to guide you through the turns will help you find the fast groove as the conditions change.
34.Finishing a race beat up and broken will teach you humility and patience.
35.A quick " man if we touched I'm sorry" means a lot whether it's your fault or not.
36.Open setup" pickup races" can be frustrating but it's the place to go when it's time to do the final tweaking and/or to see where you stack up.
37.You MUST test your car online. I have had fast setups offline through testing and had to throw them out because they were junk online. Something to do with harmonics I guess?
38.Track temperature changes will drive you crazy  : )
39.Top 5 or 10 finish with 20 or more cars is better than crashing trying to pass one more car.
40.When you get a good setup save it and don't change it. Do your tweaking and save those under a different name. You might wish you had.

What to remember about online racing

41. If you have to let off the throttle suddenly entering a turn before you are ready, the weight will violently shift to the front and if your wheels are turned even a little you will probably spin. Because the car is setup to turn left, to counter react that problem as soon as you have to quickly let off be ready to turn to the right slowly and lightly as you touch the brake to steady the car. This will probably mess up your entry and slow your exit so be cautious and get back into your zone.

42. No matter how fast you think are or how good your setup is, you will have to change a bit as you get more experience.

43.Their will always be someone faster, but on any given day that someone is human and can be beat.

44. Race clean, it pays well. Jimmy Spencer and elephants aren't the only ones that don't forget, especially in pappy pickups! The retaliation can be brutal even if you say you're sorry.

45.Watch out for the "one lap heroes." If they are behind you let them go ASAP. They will probably spin or wreck the cars in front of you shortly.

46. Practice avoiding big wrecks. If you hit the apron off throttle be ready to counter steer a bit as you run through the grass hopefully in a strait line. If you’re spinning gather it up ASAP. DO NOT floor it and start slamming gears as soon as you can or YOU WILL still be in the grass (or paved surface) doing doughnuts as the field laps you. Save the doughnuts for the winners circle.

47.Getting back on to the track after a spin can be very tricky. Be it flat spots, overheating, worn down from spinning or dirt on your tires, you might want to ease the throttle down especially if you still in the grass.

48. Be careful also after you re-enter the paved surface. "Throttle ease" might not be enough here. Short shifting helps keeps "torque spinning" of the rear tires down as the rpms build. Nothing more embarrassing and frustrating than to keep spinning and spinning as others fly by grinning!!

49.Dont get distracted looking at the car number and/or the name of the one who wrecked you. If you don’t get an "I’m sorry" check the replay after the race and if he was a moron put his name on your wrecker list and try to stay away from him next time.

50. You can win even if you're not the fastest. Drive smart, courteous and save your tires.

                                              Braking

51.Each track has different braking points, but as your tires heat up and traffic spreads out your braking points (if any) will change a little. If I’m not following to close to another car, as tires warm and pressure builds I try to drive in a little deeper by letting of the throttle "some"...a little sooner and coast a bit before braking...then slightly pumping brake barley as I throttle up...if necessary. I find that helps to keep my right front from cooking prematurely.

Also try dropping brake bias a little to help you turn if you’re tight in, and raising a little if you’re loose in before you tweak anything else. Don't be afraid to re-adjust the bias as your laps improve but most of all don't get anxious on cold tires...and pay close attention to the braking points of the driver in front of you...most of them won't give you room weather your faster or not.

                                                     Gearing

52.For the proper gearing try setting your tack around 4 grand in 2nd gear for starts and restarts at all tracks except the restricted ones. 4 grand doesn’t sound like much, but while others are trying not to spin in 1st, or short shifting to 2nd you will just be hitting your strongest torque range with full control of your car and "consistent acceleration".

If you set up 3rd a little closer to 2nd than to 4th, you can shift to 4th before turn 1 and concentrate on keeping your line strait. This also keeps your rpms low so you do not  get loose off on cold tires and low pressures. Leave 1st gear for getting outta pits...a little tire spin helps here to get you moving. Always breathe the throttle while shifting to keep blown gears to a minimum.

Obviously this has to be done in actual online racing conditions. I use the pickup practice/races to go in and outtta the garage while I’m testing  gears.
